mod 6 video review

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned

Through the eyes of the sculptor:

Some of the key concepts i learned while watching this video is when they walked into the carving shop that was made from lime stones. It was interesting how it stayed 12 degrees Celsius throughout the year. I also learned how every stone has a different smell. I also thought it was interesting how the sculptor had to use feelings to carve life back into the shape.

 Glass and ceramics

What i found interesting was the the process on how glass was made. When i found out that glass was made from sand but how the properties were so much more different the video intrigued me even more. What i also found interesting was how soda could be used as one of the components for making glass.

Installation art

The invisible art really interested me. At first i thought it was going to be some kind of tricky way to create art but when i learned it had to do with music it really captured my attention. I like how it was described as the true essence of sound that forces the listener to interact with it.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

The videos relate to the readings in the text because there were certain parts in the text about glass, stained glass, different types of sculptors and the creation they built. The videos went into further detail about the topics in the text like explaining things sculptors use to create their work or the process in how glass is made.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?

I really enjoyed all three films especially the one on how glass is made. I think the videos gave a clearer more visual understanding of the topics we learned about in the text. It helped me understand more on the life and thoughts of a sculptor and the way they see art. It also gave a clear tutorial on how to create glass and different substitutes on what to use.
