Mod 5 Logo

1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo

Creating the Logo was actually really fun. I never created a logo for anything so the experience and the process was interesting. I enjoyed coming up with unique logos.

2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas you used in the logo creation

The process was a bit difficult finding materials for the logo but fun at the same time. I really thought about what phrases to come up with for my logos. Ideas i used was things i saw outside. Like if i walk into urban outfitters they have alot of logos on their shirts and on their coffee  mugs.

3. What was the most important discovery you made in the creation of your logo?

The most important discovery i made in the creation of logo was that i actually liked it. I'm not usually a fan of drawing but i did like this project.

4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos, PowerPoint, and reading material for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?

I enjoyed the videos i found them to be very informative. The most important thing i learned was that logos come in so many different forms. I didn't know how broad the world of logos was.

Mod 5 Art Musuem

For this project i went to an art musuem in NYC called MoMa. I absoulutely loved it. I had never been there before and when i went it was sooo many people like the line to get into the musuem for free was like 3 blocks! I had a wonderful experience and i saw so many beautiful art creations.

1. Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?
The two artworks that made an impact or impression on me was the work of art titled "untitled(four etchings) its four paintings two with black paper and black ink and the other two with white paper and black ink. It was basically sending a message on how it feels to be black. I thought the work of art was very relatable if you look closely at the words he writes something like" I feel most colored when im thrown against a white backround". To me the artist was saying he feels the most like an outcast when hes sourrounded by people who are not like him. I think whether your black white or whatever we can all relate to this painting in a way because im sure we all felt out of our element at some point. Another work of art that made an impact on me was the work of art titled "The weeping woman". What first drew my attention to this painting was the way the artist made her head there was like stuff bulging out and she looked really disoriented and like her mind was going crazy. Thats how i feel sometimes. The picture related to how crazy my emotions can get someimes. Both of these art works impacted me to embrace who i am. The first one embraced me to admit when i feel out of place and the second one impacted me to live in my emotions. That if you feel crazy and like you just cant take it anymore its ok to scream and go wild.

2. Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why?
The artworks that i felt the most connected with was the art titled "Vacation Getaway, from the series House Beautiful: Bringing The War Home. I felt most connected with this picture because it symbolized an invasion of privacy. I look at my bedroom as a vacation spot. Its nice its comfortable its safe and its me. When my younger brother or my mother barges into my room i feel like that privacy breaks and its no longer my "vacation gateway". Another photograph i felt connected with was the one titled " Buzz and Nan at the after hours NYC". I'm not sure what this photography meant to the person who took it, but my perception was it looked like an old creepy man trying to talk to a girl half his age at the club and she looked nowhere near interested. I definitely related to this photograph because i have been in a situation like this one plenty of times so this photo really caught my attention.

3. Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?
The artwork that i would like to know more about is the art titled "Untitled, From the series: Painter, Paint for me". In the photo its what appears to be a nice, well dressed, looking man, relaxing on a worn out couch in the middle of a sidewalk. This picture seemed cool to me i liked the way he was just chilling on the couch and the pose he did for the picture. It was really proper. I would like to know more about this picture because i feel like theres a story behind why hes out in the middle of the street sitting on this couch.

elements and principle slideshow

I attempted to do this project the best that i could. I dont live on campus or in buffalo and i dont own a digital camera so I attemped to take the pictures with my cell phone. The pictures wouldnt load to photobucket so I had to get the pictures online but still those pictures would not load to photobucket. I even tried decreasing the size and doing it on other computers it still wouldnt work. So i had to do this project using a different website called smilebox. The process for finding the photos was really fun. i learned alot throughout this project about the different types of art works and categories they can be put in.
this is the link to my slideshow.

Color theory and emotional effects

Color; although can mean different things to different people, is defined as "The property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way it reflects or emits light". Color can have many different effects on our emotions. For example, there are 4 psychological properties of color. Blue effects us mentally. Its sooths us and makes us feel calm. Red effects us more physically. It can bring out the fight or flight instinct. Red can be stimulating and lively but can also effect our emotions by making us demanding and aggressive. Yellow, the right shade, can lift our spirits and self esteem. it can make us feel happy emotionally. The wrong shade of yellow can cause our self esteem to go down and bring out fear and anxiety. The last color which is green the color of balance, can effect us by making us feel safe and at ease.

A theoretical aspect of color that most fascinated me was how it has such an effect on the way we feel. I aways knew that color can have an effect on the way you feel but i never knew how much the impact was. I definately agree with the statements about certain colors. My room is painted blue and everytime im in here i do feel a sense of calmness and my grandmothers house is green and evertime im there i feel safe and like im on cloud 9. In the color video what made the biggest impact on me in regards to color and its effect on emotions was how in the video the artist used alot of red and its different shades in his painting. He wanted to use this color as a break away from the past when they could only use simple colors in their works of art. It had an impact on me because i never knew hoe revolutionary color was until i seen this video. In the feelings video i think the biggest impact on me in regards to color and its emotion was on the painting talked about at point 14:55 and how the artist intensified his painting so that the people viewing it can emotionally identify with the painting. He made it look rel and used colors so that we can really feel the pain that christ was experiencing.

Mod 2:Video review

Discussing the topic on Aesthetics, I  feel that Plato's theory on aesthetics was most important because he challenged its definition and what it meant. He observed it and formed a very valid opinion and questioned what didn't make sense. I agree with many of the points Plato made which is why i feel it was most important. Changeux scientific view on Aesthetics i thought was detailed and that he really did his researched. He believed that there was a very broad envelope for the evolutionary orgins dealing with art.As for Ramachandran, his scientific view was that art and science go hand in hand and its creativity all develops in our brains. What i thought was interesting about both of them was how they could relate art to being a science. I had never thought about art in that way before. These videos relate to the readings in the text because they are both informing us on the same topic. The videos just give you a more visual view and a better understanding. My opinion of the films were that they were very interesting and fun to watch. I learned alot and the videos changed my way of viewing art. It opened up my mind to a more broader perception then the readings. I'm more of a verbal/visual learner so viewing the videos helped me understand the topics better.
